Why I Love Words
Poetry is a fancy word for free language. It breaks all the rules. It flips our world upside-down as we know it, begs us to view everything more curiously for the sake of growth. Poetry is in our bones. It gives way to worlds of beauty we did not know we held. Its role is becoming increasingly more vital as our society becomes increasingly more anxiety-ridden about triviality.
It is more common for an individual to operate on auto-pilot — inauthentic emotion — rather than tapping into his or her own honest emotions and vulnerabilities, which are stairwells into a more joyful existence.
Our lives transform from mundane to magic when we choose, nobly, to speak, act, and think from a place of creative honesty, no matter the cost. Without it, we will go nowhere. So let's start talking — but skip the small kind.
